Representation & Theory

Rush Hour (1998)

I have chosen rush hour, This trailer shows this is because it has a lot of different ways of expressing this movie, for example there are two cops with the same job, but totally different, one of the cops Chris Tucker is an american nationality, as well as Jackie Chan as a Chinese nationality. This trailer shows how interesting it if especially for teenagers because there is a lot of action used. The typical stereotype used in this trailer is as soon as Chris saw Jackie  and saw he is Chinese; he thought that he would not know English. Chris also questions him by saying "can you speak English", Jackie doesn't answer. I think that even though there is a Chinese hero and there is also a Chinese villain. Chinese people could be presented both positively and negatively in this movie.

Equilibrium
equilibrium-
-when  both heroes meet at the airport.
-when both heroes help each other find Soo the kidnapped girl get saved.

disequilibrium-
-when the villain comes in.
- when Chris gets informed that he only has a little time to save the girl.
- when Chris finds out new techniques and skills from Jackie

new equilibrium-
- when both Chris and Jackie meet up their success
- both heroes become friends
- they both solve the case of kidnapping the girl Soo.

Characters
the characters is this trailer is commonly men, there is a protagonist where the main character is the
there is also a mentor who helps the main character who helps him by giving advise and help.

- Heros-  Chris tucker and Jackie Chan.

- villain- Sang is the main antagonist in this trailer.

- soo yung is a girl who gets kidnapped, but get saved from the two heros.

Barthes- enigma codes/ action codes.
enigma code-
- why does Sand ask for 50 million dollars?
- Is he a good detective?
- will he be responsible for the job given?
- will they save the building from getting blasted?

Action

- when both the heroes fight.
- when Chris gets kicked on the face
- when Jackie teaches Chris how to do taekwondo.
